About Mr Periyathambi Jambulingam
Mr Jambulingam has experience in both the NHS and the independent healthcare sectors. He has been a Consultant General Surgeon with a special interest in upper GI and laparoscopic (minimally-invasive) surgery at Luton and Dunstable Hospital NHS Trust since 2007.
After qualifying in medicine in 1991, Mr Jambulingam completed his higher surgical training in the West Midlands, achieving his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. He then spent a year gaining additional experience in the Liver Transplantation Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, and subsequently completed a fellowship in oesophago-gastric and advanced laparoscopic surgery at University Hospitals Birmingham.
Mr Jambulingam has completed several bariatric training courses in Europe and continues to develop his expertise by attending courses, seminars and conferences relating to bariatric and gastrointestinal surgery. He has a special interest in oesophago-gastric surgery, which includes the management of acid reflux disease in the form of laparoscopic hiatus hernia repair. In addition, he delivers bariatric surgical services at the Obesity Centre for Research at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital.
