About Mr Vittal Rao
Mr Rao is a Consultant Laparoscopic, Upper GI, and Bariatric Surgeon who specialises in gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery for weight loss.
He gained his medical degree from The University of Kerala before gaining extensive experience, which led him to become a Specialist Consultant at University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust, a position he still holds today.
Already an expert in his field, Mr Rao is committed to continuing to develop professionally and attends many courses to ensure that his skill set remains up to date. Through exposure to the latest surgical techniques, he has acquired exceptional skills in a range of procedures.
Mr Rao is a member of several related organisations, including The British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society, and he is actively engaged in medical research, having contributed to numerous articles and publications.
He is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Keele University, and a Regional Surgical Advisor and member of the Surgical Specialty Board for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Mr Rao sits on the faculty for laparoscopic courses within the Royal College of Surgeons of England and regularly teaches surgical trainees in acquiring advanced laparoscopic skills.
