Vaser Liposuction in Detail

Also known simply as ‘Vaser lipo,’ Vaser liposuction is a type of fat removal that uses ultrasound technology to break down fat cells before they are removed from the body. A probe emitting ultrasound waves is used in the target area before the fat is sucked out through small incisions.

Vaser lipo can be used in many areas across the body, including:

– Chin

– Neck

– Upper arms

– Stomach

– Thighs

– Calves

If you’re looking to eliminate stubborn areas of fat, Vaser liposuction could be an option for you. As a non-invasive method of fat removal, Vaser lipo can offer the following benefits:

– Permanently removes fatty tissue

– Can be less invasive than traditional liposuction

– Can simultaneously tighten the skin in the targeted area

– Can be performed under local anaesthetic

– Often produces less bruising and swelling than traditional lipo

– Can help you feel more confident and improve your self-esteem

There are potential risks and side effects associated with all surgical procedures. Although it is classed as a low-risk procedure, Vaser liposuction can cause the following:

– Swelling

– Bruising

– Hyperpigmentation

– Bleeding

– Asymmetry

– Discomfort

You’ll be able to discuss the risks and potential side effects of your procedure with us at any point in your treatment journey.

You might be given local anaesthetic or general anaesthetic for your Vaser lipo procedure – this will depend on the extent of your procedure and how many areas are being treated.

To begin with, your surgeon will fill the targeted area(s) with a saline solution containing anaesthetic, which helps to minimise discomfort and makes the fatty tissue easier to break up.

Once the solution has been injected, your surgeon will then use small probes that emit ultrasound waves to break up the fat between the skin and muscle. The fat, which is now liquified, is removed through a cannula (a very thin tube) using suction technology.

The procedure can take up to 3 hours, but this will depend on how much fat you’re having removed.

Vaser lipo is a popular choice for those who want to get rid of small areas of stubborn fat. Liposuction in general is among the top 5 cosmetic procedures in the UK for both women and men. While traditional liposuction can target larger areas and almost always requires general anaesthetic, Vaser lipo is a less invasive alternative.

It’s important to remember that liposculpture is not a weight loss procedure, and you should be at or near your goal weight when you have this procedure.

You should be able to return home on the same day as your procedure, and should take 2-3 days off work.

For 2-3 weeks after your Vaser lipo, you should avoid strenuous activity and heavy lifting. You’ll also be advised to wear a compression garment, which encourages healing and can help you achieve the best possible results. Your surgeon will advise you on how long to wear this, although for most people this will be for 4-6 weeks.

Vaser Liposuction FAQ's

You can have Vaser liposuction on almost any area of the body that has sufficient fat.

Some of the most popular areas to have this procedure include:

– Abdomen

– Upper arms

– Thighs

– Hips

– Chin

– Chest

Any scarring from Vaser lipo will be minimal, as the incisions made during the procedure are very small.

Vaser lipo is not a weight loss procedure, so it won’t be suitable for you if you’re trying to lose a significant amount of weight. It can remove stubborn pockets of fat, so can eliminate a few pounds if you are at or near your goal weight.

You’ll be able to see the results of your liposculpture once the swelling has fully subsided. For most people this is within 2-3 months, but it will depend on your own healing progress and recovery.

Vaser liposuction permanently removes fat from the targeted area, but it’s important to remember that fat can still accumulate in other areas.
